Hi, I'm so confused and stressed out with all that is happening with the benefits system and the government changes. Can anyone just simplify what is happening? I'm on long term cb Esa and dla.

Hi @lily84, it can be so confusing and there's a lot of misinformation out there! But there aren't any big changes happening to CB ESA for now.

Are you on DLA as a legacy benefit, for a child, or do you mean PIP? If it's PIP, we are waiting to hear about the results of the Timms Review, and this won't be until the Autumn. Then the government will start to lay out any plans for changes to the PIP system. But for now that will stay the same too.

Hi Rosie, thanks, its all so stressful not knowing what is happening one way or another but I guess its good that there is no more changes to cb esa at the moment as I'd heard it was going to be changed and time limited. As an adult I am still on Indefinate dla many yrs due to chronic ill health and majority housebound/bedbound but most of the talk I hear are about pip changes so I don't know where that leaves me.

Hi @lily84 It's definitely a bit nerve-wracking not knowing! But from the information I've seen, it's unlikely that any big cuts will come in this year. It's just the Universal Credit changes that are coming in in April, no other benefits are due to change at the moment as far as we're aware.

I'm afraid I'm not too sure about DLA, but I don't think they'd be making any major changes to that as PIP is now the main disability benefit for most adults.

Have you been told you'll need to transition over to PIP at any point?

Hi Rosie, thanks. I'm not on UC but I think i lose out on getting the health element of UC now due to the changes which makes things much harder in the future. All I know about dla to pip is the usual annual awards letter says that dla is ending and people will be moved to pip in time. Have you heard about people in the lcwra group being downgraded to lcw, and then something called IWS to get people back to work? I heard that a change of circumstances such as moving home can trigger this too, which is a big worry as I may have to move to a bungalow or ground floor flat in the near future due to more difficulties in the home. It's just one worry after another, I mean don't ill people have enough to deal with.

Hi, does anyone know if having to move homes due to increased difficulties in the home is classed as a change of circumstances and would this mean I would be re assessed from Indefinate dla and have to apply for pip? This would really worry me as it means I could be reassessed and lose the claim couldn't I.

    Hi,

Moving home for any reason should not stop your DLA or trigger a reassessment. You will just have to let them know your new address.
