My introduction and a bit about me 😊
Hi everyone 😊 My name is Mike, I’ve just joined the community and wanted to introduce myself. I’m 28 years old and currently live with my parents, who mean a lot to me and are a big part of my life ❤️
I should also mention that I have selective mutism, so I use my phone to communicate with people. It’s what works best for me and helps me express myself. I mainly talk with my family, as I feel the most comfortable and safe with them, but I do like connecting with others in ways that suit me. It can take me a bit of time, but I’m always open to kind and friendly conversations here 😊
At home, I live with my dog Jess 🐶 and I honestly spend a lot of my time with her. She’s not just a pet, she’s part of the family and means so much to me. One of my favourite things to do is take her out for walks. I really value those moments, especially when it’s quiet and peaceful. It gives me time to relax, clear my mind, and enjoy the fresh air and nature around me 🌿 It’s one of the times I feel most calm.
I also go out for coffee with my parents ☕ It might sound like a small thing, but it really isn’t to me. It’s something I choose to do because I genuinely love spending time with them. Those moments mean a lot, just sitting together, being present, and enjoying each other’s company ❤️
In my spare time, I’m really into gaming 🎮 It’s one of my favourite ways to relax and have fun. I play on both PC and PlayStation, and I like all kinds of games depending on how I feel. Sometimes I want something calm and easy going, and other times I want something more exciting or challenging. Gaming is something that helps me switch off and enjoy myself.
I’m also a big fan of Doctor Who 🚀 I’ve loved it for a long time, and I’ve built up a collection of figures over the years. It’s something that makes me happy and I always enjoy adding to my collection when I can. There’s just something special about it that I really connect with.
Another thing I really enjoy is Lego 🧱 I love building sets and getting stuck into something creative. It helps me focus, keeps my mind busy, and I really like the feeling of finishing a build and seeing what I’ve created. It’s relaxing and rewarding at the same time.
When I’m not at home, I like going to the cinema 🎬 especially to watch sci fi films, as that’s my favourite genre. I love getting lost in different worlds and stories, it’s a great way to escape for a while and experience something new.
I’m really happy to be here and be part of this community ❤️ I might be a bit quiet at first, but I’m looking forward to getting to know people and being part of something positive and welcoming 😊

Hi Mike, welcome to the community 😊
It’s completely okay to communicate in the way that works best for you. It’s good that you’ve found methods that help you express yourself, and this community is a place where people are generally understanding and respectful of that.
You’ve clearly got some great interests too. Doctor Who, Lego, gaming, and sci-fi films are all brilliant ways to relax and engage your mind.
Looking forward to seeing you around and hearing more from you in future posts. Glad to have you here 👍

Thanks so much 😊 I really appreciate your kind message, it means a lot ❤️
It helps a lot being in a place where people are understanding about how I communicate. That’s something I do find important, so it’s nice to feel comfortable here already.
I’m glad you like my interests too 😄 I definitely spend a lot of time with gaming, Lego, and watching sci fi. Doctor Who has always been a big favourite of mine.
I’m looking forward to being around here more and getting involved when I can 😊 Thanks again for the warm welcome 👍

Hi @Mike_Whovian welcome to the Community from me too. It is lovely that you have joined us. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum.
We have a lot of dog lovers on the forum. What kind of dog is your Jess?
Thank you for telling us about yourself.
We are a friendly and supportive forum, please have a look around and join in when you are ready.
There is a thread "Pets Corner" where members share photo's of their pets which you might like to take a look at. You could share a photo of Jess but only if you are happy to do so.
Take care.

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! 😄🐾 I’m really excited to be part of the community.
Jess is a Cockapoo 🐶, and she’s such a character, always full of energy and mischief! 😅 I can already tell there are lots of fellow dog lovers here, so I’m looking forward to swapping stories and tips 🐕💬.
I’ll definitely have a look around the forum and join in the conversations when I can. Thanks again for making me feel so welcome! 🙏💛

Hi Mike and welcome to the forum. ❤️😊 You're a very interesting person. How lovely your relationship is with your parents. I never had a good relationship with my parents, so I love hearing about healthy parents. I too would love to see pics of your doggie. My partner had a terripooh who still owns a huge part of my heart. I'll try to find pics of her to post in Pets Corner. Perhaps you'd like to post your Lego projects on the Kaleidoscope thread, which is different types of art by members? Here are the threads:

Thank you so much for such a warm welcome, it really means a lot! I feel very lucky to have the relationship I do with my parents, and I never take that for granted. I’m really sorry to hear you didn’t have a good relationship with your parents, that can’t have been easy, and I can understand why hearing about positive family connections might feel special 💛
Aww, a terripooh sounds absolutely adorable! 🐶 They have such big personalities, don’t they? I’d love to see pictures of her if you’re able to find some, Pets Corner sounds like the perfect place for that. I’ll definitely share some photos of my doggie soon too 😊
And thanks for the suggestion about the Kaleidoscope thread, that sounds right up my street! I’d be happy to post some of my Lego projects there 🧱✨

Welcome @Mike_Whovian! Lovely to hear about you and your interests.
My partner just got a PS5 so I've been exploring gaming for the first time, but I'm not very good at it! I've enjoyed some slower-pace games and some puzzle games so far. Utterly failed at anything involving shooting or fighting! Too stressful for me 😁 Are there any games you've enjoyed playing recently?
Hope you're enjoying the community so far.

That’s awesome you’ve been getting into gaming 🎮 starting with slower-paced and puzzle games is such a good way in! And honestly, same here with shooting/fighting games I just panic and button-mash 😅 Way too stressful!
Lately I’ve been enjoying more story-driven and relaxed games 📖 I love anything where I can take my time and just explore without pressure. Cozy games are definitely my comfort zone 🌿
If you’re enjoying puzzles and chill games, you’re absolutely on the right track there are so many great ones out there! Happy to recommend a few if you’d like 😊
And yeah, I’m really enjoying the community so far

Yes, I'm working out that those are definitely my kind of thing too @Mike_Whovian - story driven things or cosy games. Please do share any recommendations you might have!
My partner has been playing one of the Uncharted series lately. I help him with the puzzle bits and working out where to go, but the shooting is too intense for me! He does a lot of button mashing in the fight sequences too 😂
Glad to hear you're having a good time here so far ☺️
1 -
That sounds exactly like my kind of gaming too 😊 story-driven and cosy games are just so much more relaxing and enjoyable!
Haha I love that you team up like that 😂 helping with the puzzles and navigation is the best part anyway! The shooting in games like Uncharted can get so intense, I’d definitely be the same just letting someone else handle that while I figure everything else out 😅
For recommendations, a few I’ve really enjoyed are things like Life is Strange and Unpacking 🌿 they’re all pretty chill, story-rich, or puzzle-focused in different ways. Definitely worth a look if you haven’t tried them already!
And I’m really glad you’re enjoying things here too it seems like such a friendly space ☺️
Also, is it okay if we PM? 😊

Hi @Mike_Whovian, That's fabulous. Thanks for the recommendations, I'll look those up!
Unfortunately, our PM system isn't working at the moment so nobody can send new PMs to anyone. But we're looking for a fix and we'll let everyone know if we're able to get that function back up again.

Ahh no worries at all, that makes sense 😊 thanks for letting me know!
Hopefully they manage to get the PM system sorted soon 🤞 it’d be nice to have that option back. In the meantime, I’m happy to chat here anyway!
And no problem at all for the recommendations 😊 hope you find something you really enjoy out of those!
