Purpl launches new grant for disabled people
Hi everyone.
Just thought I'd share this new grant offering from Purpl in case it's of interest to any of our community 😊
"A new grant is set to help disabled people meet essential expenses and access vital practical support.
The Purpl Grant Community Fund, launched on the 1st of April, will provide grants of up to £2,000 to eligible disabled people to help pay for items such as mobility equipment, accessibility adaptations, therapy, wellbeing support, education and independence-related costs.
The move comes as research from disability charity Scope shows disabled households face significantly higher living costs. Currently, the average disabled household needs an additional £1,095 per month to maintain the same standard of living as non-disabled households, equivalent to more than £13,000 a year."

I need my kerb dropped to allow me to get my vehicle and scooter off the road and to park without hurting my back and neck with the bump. But local council refused as according to them its not an adaption. I have been self sufficient now starting to feel the financial pinch. I'm worried we may have to move. I love my home but it looks like another thing in life I have to give up to avoid pain!

Hi @NeilMW10. It's a shame your council cannot support with a home adaption grant. I wonder if this Purpl grant might be an option for you. I've also added a link below with some other options that might be helpful - Disability grants for home adaptations | Disability charity Scope UK

I applied for this last week, to potentially pay for driving lessons and a Motability vehicle, no response yet and probably never will be.
I am so over companies/people with the communication skills of a Sheep!

It might take a little time if they've got a lot of requests coming in but fingers crossed they come back soon. Will you keep us updated @SheffieldMan1976? 😊

I thought your GP refused to support your application for a provisional licence?

That was 23 years ago.
Mate, just don't, I am already in a foul mood and don't need the likes of you winding me up.
