is it true that I will have to pay my rent increase from my UC despite having transitional protection. My HB is already payed directly to my housing association.

    Yes that is true.

As your Housing Element is paid directly to your landlord, the reduction will be very visible and the amount going into your back account will drop- because the rent increase is taken from your TP and paid to the landlord within the Housing Element.

Transitional Protection is added if your total UC award is lower than legacy benefits

This is so at the time of transfer you are not worse off.

TP is designed to erode over time as other elements go up or new elements are added, or stop with a major change of circumstances.

Turn2Us has a great guide to TP.

Back when I lived in a HA Flat (which was from August 2006 to circa the beginning of last May), we had a proper mare because the HA weren't paying the utility Bills, and it took Dad threatening to report them to the BBC and various other news outlets until they took any form of action.

There was a ton of other problems with the company as well which for various reasons I can't go into, hence I finally decided "Sod this" and gave 30 days notice on my tenancy around this time last year.
