Telling uc about a rent increase
Long story short (as possible...) a couple of weeks ago my landlord tried to give me a new tenancy agreement with a £125 rent increase on. There was no point me signing a new tenancy, as the new rules come in on the 1st May, and he'd given me no notice (baring in mind my fixed term tenancy ended over 2 years ago and only now in a rush before the 1st May does he want to do another). He also gave me no heads up and I certainly didn't have the money for the increase to start in April anyway. We finally agreed the rent increase would be £85 not £125. But I stated that I needed it on a section 13 because I could not afford to pay it for April, because I didn't want another tenancy agreement, and if he issued a section 13 before my rent date, it gives me a month's notice and he would get it for mays rent date. Because he'd only need to give one month notice, instead of the 2 it becomes from the 1st May. Anyway, he agreed then days later refused the section 13 saying there not legal till the 1st May, which of course they 100% are and he knows it. But I think he realised he can't increase for 52 weeks if he does one. It got rather nasty and he's been pressuring me none stop. I provided him with evidence of them being legal but he doesn't care and just denies it. So long story short, the attached picture is basically what I was forced to sign (I feel like If I didn't he may try to evict me), I just need to know, will uc take this as evidence as a rent increase? I already get maximum housing element and pay a top up, and I know it won't effect my Transitional protection, and that I'll have to pay the extra, but will they accept this bodged form of his as notice that my rent is changing? I'm so worried and this has made me so ill. Thank you in advance for your time and help.

I wouldn't say it's bodged as it appears to have all the relevant information written down.
None of us work for UC so we can't answer your question for sure.
You should submit it and see whether or not they accept it.

I can't do this before day of The increase, correct? And the increase is the 23rd May. So I need to wait till then?

Yes you can only report a change once it's happened.
So on the day or asap afterwards.
