PIP HELP ANYONE
Hi everyone,
so basically I have refused for a F2F assessment due to all my on going issues ect ect. It went to Maximus , I declined a home visit or a telephone assessment, and it was going back and forth to DWP PIP and Maximus - went back probably about 5 times! got a letter this morning from someone called Marie about a “Home visit “ she works for DWP. I have called them and said no one will be here so they have cancelled it and I have them my reasons why. I don’t claim anything else bar PIP! never known DWP home visiting team wanting to come out and see me? is that odd? I don’t no much about it. I called them up and she said it’s not odd”. but I suffer from severe paranoia that’s why. Any help would be much appreciated!

@sam7399, a home visit by the DWP's own staff is not the standard route, but it does happen in certain situations, for example:
- if assessments keep being declined or can’t go ahead
- if they need to verify circumstances directly
- if there are safeguarding or vulnerability concerns
- or if your case is stuck and they need to move it forward
It sounds as though the DWP are stepping in directly because the usual assessment route isn’t working.
If they are unable to assess you and do not believe they have enough paper-based evidence to award you PIP, you should be aware your claim can be refused due to lack of assessment.
You mentioned being able to call the DWP, would a telephone assessment be a suitable option for you?

@Emilee thank you so much for getting back to me highly appreciated! It’s gone back and forth about 5 times!!! when I called them up today they said the home visit is due to it being stuck at a dead end. but she did say it’s nothing to worry about them coming to the house, they said they do it when nothing gets done. I said it if I decline the home visit will I loose my money , she said we wouldn’t just stop your money we will send it back to DWP - PIP and they will decide based on what they can see - if not they will send it back to Maximus “. but said it’s not uncommon for us to come out that’s what we do when nothing gets done”.

Hello @sam7399
It's not an uncommon for DWP to do a home visit and it's nothing to be concerned about.
If this isn't a possibility for you or you have adjustments that to enable you to engage, they have a duty under the Equality Act to provide them. You can explain to them the challenged and ask them what alternative methods of assessment they can provide given the adjustments you're asking for.
There are many method in which they can engage.
I work for the Department and there are many adjustments made to support Claimants, do you know have a preferred assessment method?
