Why do my emotions feel so different from my parents?

Lately I’ve been struggling with my emotions, especially around my parents.I feel like my emotional reactions are much stronger and more unstable compared to theirs. I get anxious very easily, I get frustrated quickly, and sometimes I feel really alone even when I’m with them.

It’s confusing because they seem calm or unaffected, while I feel everything so intensely. It makes me wonder why I’m so different emotionally, and why I react in ways they don’t seem to understand.

The only time I feel like I can truly be myself is when I’m playing Splatoon 3. It’s the one place where I can release stress, focus, and feel more in control of my emotions. Outside of that, I feel like I’m constantly trying to hold everything together.

I’m not looking for professional advice — just wondering if anyone else feels emotionally different from their family, or has tips for coping when your emotions don’t match the people around you.

Thanks for reading.

I'm in a similar position, I don't play Splatoon, I just play fighting/wrestling games and beat virtual people up instead of real ones.
