PIP Tribunal- Unexpected Phone Call

Hello all!

I need to ask this as I’m really confused and I think my partner is tired of me asking him😂

I’ve appealed my PIP MR decision and heading to tribunal next. I’ve had so many wrong issues with my PIP claim and had to get my MP involved to help resolve it like missing the appeal deadline and refusing to take my evidence into account. A complaint has been made but not sure if this is connected.

Last Thursday I had an unexpected phone call from the PIP appeals team and the person I spoke to was so lovely and said she was taking me through the 12 points and we spent around 20 minutes on the phone together. I think if anything that was a mini assessment if you will. She then said she would be sending me a new decision letter and I’d receive this in the next 7-10 days. She did clarify the name of my bank and how I manage my money whether it was online such as an app or in person.

The morning after I received a text from the Tribunal saying they’ve received a response from PIP and that hearing date will be booked in advance but they couldn’t give me an estimate of how long this could be. I’m aware I could be waiting some time.

I’m just wondering if this is normal or if something like an award may happen or if someone else has had a similar experience. I’m very confused and believe me it doesn’t take much to confuse me! 😂

    Hi,

This does sound strange. It sounds like PIP wanted to offer you an award without going all the way to tribunal, which does happen sometimes.

But then to hear that a date was being booked for the tribunal makes it sound like they couldn't come to a decision from the phone call, and you will still have to go to the tribunal as planned.

I think all you can do for now is just wait and see whether you do get a letter to explain what's happening within the next week or so.
