How can someone be 'walkwalking around Tesco' when they allegedly can't walk 20 meters? I have never understood that one.
I once saw a neighbour who has a blue badge and Motability car, he was happily wheeling a trolley up and down the aisles! 🤔

Well, you probably won't like the answer, but the main reason is that PIP is only about the majority of the time, which we generally consider to mean 50% of days. As long as he wasn't walking around Tesco 4 days a week, he was well within the guidelines. And, of course, he was using a walking aid in the form of a trolley.
It is also possible to qualify for Motability through a combination of a longer walking distance, but difficulty planning and following journeys due to conditions not directly linked to walking.
Lastly, the person walking around Tesco in this case could be a named driver rather than the disabled person themself.
I must admit, I had a Blue Badge for my final few supermarket shops. But felt guilty using it and got a lot of stares. The reason I got the badge myself wasn't anything to do with 'leg function', but that's what other people expect it to be for. Luckily I lost the ability to drive altogether within a few months of getting the badge, and have been effectively housebound ever since, so at least they don't have to see me 'misusing' a blue badge any more. 🙄

I fully accept that people qualify for all kinds of reasons, but why do we rarely see an actual physically disabled person, transferring into their wheelchair? In my opinion, the scheme has moved far from its intended purpose. Surely the majority don't have 'invisible' disabilities?

RTK GPS is accurate to 1cm - normal GPS is down to around 1-3metres !

Also - surely it breaks GDPR - In that your current location can (and will) be tracked ?
What right has a private company to know where we are 24/7 ?

I would advise anyone who has a problem with the terms and conditions, to simply not sign up for a Motability lease. I imagine they are entitled to change them as they see fit?
If all fleet vehicles had a black box, the roads would be a safer place; I would fit them with a speed limiter too, 100 kmph/62 mph.

This time I completely agree with you, nobody should have the right, but police can also do the same thing. But I take your point that a private company shouldn't have that right.

Whilst I'm a believer of your driving should be of a standard black box or no black box … sometimes you have to brake heavier than is considered 'normal' sometimes you have to take evasive action that looks to telematics as if it's careless/ dangerous. Sometimes you've got to floor it just to avoid someone else's carelessness … unfortunately these will all be red flags, and that's what I don't agree with
Plus telematics go wrong, I know that when my daughter had a black box when she passed her test, there were a couple of disputes of her meant to being somewhere she wasn't and speeding
On the flip side it will stop people abusing the scheme for their own ends. ?
I haven't got a motability car, but I fall on the side of it being Big Brother and invasion of privacy … maybe something we're going to have to get used to ? The Thinking Police
Here in Wales Supermarkets can no longer offer BOGOF's on 'unhealthy' things but still insist they're fighting child poverty when some people relied on deals like that. People call me weird but I'm normal compared to politicians …

Alot of vehicles have trackers. I had one on a truck that I used to 'trunk' between Scotland and England every night. I didn't have to take the job, and I suggest the same applies here.

This is actually a good point … the choice is down to the customer whether to go ahead.
I still stand by what I said, but there is other thinking out there
My daughter as a Paramedic sometimes has to explain her actions on the road after telematics throw up an 'anomaly' … but they're trained to overtake on corners, even to do 140+ plus on the Motorways, so why question their driving to get to an emergency or to take an emergency
This subject is going to be interesting to see how it pans out, I just hope too many innocent people aren't removed from the scheme before it's tweaked/ rethought

I have absolutely no complaints about black boxes being fitted to commercial vehicles but we are talking about private vehicles here - with only disabled drivers being targeted - discrimination if nothing else !

Motability isn't a right for anyone. It's a choice. If anything, it's discriminatory against people who don't fit the correct PIP descriptors, but I won't get onto that…
Plenty of private cars have black boxes fitted. It's very difficult for a young person to get affordable insurance without one now. Is that age discrimination? Or is it based on the insurance database evidence that younger drivers generally have more serious accidents?
Motability is a privilege, and it's one that can be abused easily. I don't see any problem with Motability keeping an eye on how their cars are being driven. No-one is forced to use the Motability scheme. They are more than welcome to lease the same car from a different leasing company if they don't accept the rules.

You could say the same about compulsory eye test if you are over 70. They should make eye test compulsory for everyone, they dont all have bad eye sight when reaching 70🤓👓

Unless you plan on using the vehicle to deliver pizzas, or drive like a boy racer, where's the issue?
