Ads encouraging people back to work when I log into UC.

Hi, last week is the first time I'd seen this. I due to go to a face to face financial review. Is this something which is likely to come up during the review?

I wonder also if there will be greater focus on getting people who are classed as low capacity for work back into work.

    I wouldn't worry too much, even Labour aren't stupid enough to force anyone who's been declared unfit to work to get a job.

    Hi,

    This banner ad is appearing on all accounts with LCWRA. It's completely voluntary, no obligation to accept the offer.

    It's nothing to do with your financial review and they should not be asking you work related questions at that appointment.

    I’ve noticed this and was actually contacted to attend appointment? I’m in early sixties, worked for 3+decades, on LCWRA now and enhanced ADP( cos in Scotland). I mentioned that travelling to appointment wasn’t possible due to my assessed disabilities. They phoned back and almost apologised about contacting me? I’m on enhanced disability for 5 years?It seems the notice and contact is almost random?? I explained my medical situation fully on phone all, remained polite and was assured I would not be contacted again. This was to DWP Work coach… I have to say they seemed almost resigned and apologetic about the pressured contact? About two days later I received a message from same work coach giving me befriending opps and local disability groups in my area. I did appreciate that. It’s madness though.. I could have provided her with a list of my hospital appointments( several) for next year? Why are they contacting certified disabled/ sick individuals??

    It's good that you were able to get it resolved amicably. It's interesting that you thought they seemed resigned and apologetic. I bet they feel bad contacting people but they have no choice.

    @Rachel_Scope What gets me, is that the DWP don't seem to be aware of their own rules in cases like this… They want ALL disabled people to go out and work, to reduce the MASSIVE benefits bill, yet they know full well there's tons of severely mentally and/or physically disabled adults of working age for whom a day's work would literally kill 'em.

    They do state that it is voluntary @SheffieldMan1976 but I understand it's distressing for those who genuinely cannot work as they may feel pressured.

    Those closest to the jobs market, they absolutely should be helped back into work, but to date, help seems to be in short supply.

    When I claimed ESA for the first time, I had come straight out of full time work, all I needed was help to get back to even on a supermarket check-out, or in a call centre etc, but despite multiple appeals for help, none was forthcoming, only supervised job searches.

    In the end, it was told to me that I really should just dissappear and live on my benefits, there wasn't any actual help beyond the job searching; so no help in actual fact. This came from a Job Centre DEA. I was quite shocked at rhe time.

    An example of the 'taIlored support' available was clearly demonstrated, when a neighbour of mine who was also trying to get back to work after 6months in prison, he was told "just don't tell them"; this was when he queried what he should write on the Asda online application, when it asked about any time spent incarcerated. I was sat at the next computer, so heard this personally.

    When I had my driving licence medically revoked, I was forced to apply for ESA. The only 'help' available was messing about with my CV, and what turned out to be fruitless supervised job searches at a private company.

    When I asked the DEA at my local Job Centre for help, she told me they were basically a signing on point for the dole bludgers, there was nothing for me, and that I should just sit tight and live on my ESA.

    I've had experience of DEAs at the Job Centre being worse than useless 99% of the time and that's being kind.
