Hi, my name is bex123! Feeling low.
hello I feel so horrid. I’ve been on benefits for years due to my mental health. I know I deserve help but everyone around me shoves me into the dirt. My “best friend” yesterday said “but you’re reliant upon the state, aren’t you?!”. It was the way he said it. Up on his pedestal. He reminded me of all the incredibly successful people we knew in school too. And how well they are doing now. It’s just something I don’t need to hear. I couldn’t feel more rubbish right now.
I was bright and had potential. That’s the saddest part. I’ve had many jobs but now I don’t…

Hi @bex123 welcome to the Community. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum. Any questions just ask.
I would question if he is your "best friend" when he says something like that. It is not very kind.
Try not to compare yourself to other people we are all different.
Could you perhaps have a word with your GP and see if they can offer you any help with your Mental Health.
Take care of yourself.

Hi @bex123, so sorry to read this. Yes, you absolutely do deserve support, and it sounds as though your friend might not quite understand the complexity of mental health and how you're feeling. Going from being in work to not can have a huge impact on you, especially. It's a big change. I'm going to pop you an email shortly, please keep an eye out for it.

People do not understand the power of thier words and it is cutting ive always felt great shame not being able to hold jobs down or fit into the structure of society and friends family do remind you of that at times its hard to accept but at some points in my day and life i havecto allow myself some sort of peace of mind ok i never have a career like people i know but im a good person who cares for others understanding a job doesnt defie me and just because someone works doesnt make them anymore important than you or me we are all unique and bring somethink to this world
