I'm confused about driving
Hello everyone. A bit about me, I'm a late bloomer in my early 40s looking to learn to drive and then get a car on the Motability scheme. I have physical issues stemming from CMT (no use of legs, no grip in hands, weakened body all over, etc).
I've been trying to get assessed to see if I could drive with appropriate adaptations. I've been to two assessments (Derby and one in Birmingham) but they didn't have the right adaptations so couldn't write a proper report up for the DVLA to issue me a provisional license. At my second assessment I did get to drive a WAV but the adaptations were still not perfect and I needed assistance to control the secondary controls (I basically accelerated and braked and controlled the steering wheel) so I think the write up was not up to the DVLA's requirements.
I started out quite enthusiastically but getting bounced from one assessment centre to the other (there were 2 other ones I was referred to who forwarded me elsewhere) and getting the same tedious responses from the DVLA I have become quite despondent and don't know what to do to make progress. Can anybody please advise? I've spoken many, many times to DVLA's customer services and they just brush me off.
Any advice appreciated.

Hi,
This isn't DVLA responsibility which is likely why their customer service can't help.
The assessments are outsourced to Driving Mobility. Have you tried contacting them directly and explaining your requirements over the phone or via email so that they can work out which centre is suitable for your needs?

Hello OverlyAnxious.
I didn't know that, I thought DVLA was being awkward. I will contact the Driving Mobility people. Thank you.
