i dare say it will be spread just before the field is ploughed for maize the ground needs to be a certain temperature for good germination and as you say its a tad colder up your way

You are correct Chris because of the cooler damp weather and good soil it is ideal for potatoe growers

My dog greatly dislikes Highlands, he chases them. He wags his tail and will attempt to sniff other breeds, such as Charolais. He loves playful calves.

The farmer still with the piled up manure, he has got some new beasts; but I can't see why having 8 cows and 8 calves is worth the hassle?

I expect he will let them eat most of the free grass and then move them on to spread the manure and plough it
