Hi all haven't posted in a good while hope you are all well? I'm hoping someone can put my mind at ease.its regarding going abroad whilst claiming UC and mainly pip.long story short both my husband and I suffer greatly with anxiety he has PTSD Gad, and myself mild agoraphobia, we can both go out as long as we are together or with a family member. Husband 62 I'm 59.I have fibromyalgia and was told sunshine may help my severe pain.problem is I'm so anxious about telling UC that I just can't go.We both get descriptor 1e can't undertake any journey,we both get pip,so if we were to try and go away for less than a week how would this look to them? I am afraid of losing my award because of a short holiday that may or may not help my pain.if I report to UC will this be on our records and trigger a review with pip.no judgement please 🥺 I'm 💯 terrified of doing anything wrong.

Hi you don't need to inform them if you are only going away for less than a week.

Thanks for taking time to reply, at a UC review would they ask about overseas travel?

No its highly unlikely and in any case as you are travelling as a couple you aren't breaking any rules in regard to your pip 1e because you would be supporting one another in order to be able to undertake the journey.

you're meant to declare to UC if you leave Great Britain (or Northern Ireland if you live there) for any length of time, but in practice, unless you have regular appointments, there's little chance of them finding out.
