Should I give up on finding a job?

Topic.

I keep getting rejected for jobs I apply to online mainly because I can't work long hours due to my PIP/UC.

Therefore is it worth putting myself through the application process all the time in the likelyhood I'll just keep getting rejected which winds me up?

Given we're about to have an economic crash due to the Iran War fallout and AI bubble bursting, for the time being, yes.

Full-time able-bodied people with long-running careers are having trouble. Disabled people with no or minimal work history have no chance of finding something in the current climate.

Why does PIP stop you working long hours?

You're a trier, if nothing else, but i would probably concentrate on doing what you enjoy.

Don't stop, never give up, if it's your dream

But be more selective and put your energy into applying for the jobs you really want that already advertise hours that suit your need

The op has been trying for over 30 years. If it was me, I would prefer to put my energy into a hobby, rather than face continuous rejection from retail companies ( His chosen sector).

It's not so much the PIP, I get 28 hours a week of support at the moment (4 hours a day, 7 days a week), if I was to lose any of that due to work commitments, I'd never get it back.

However, they've said I can work a few hours, just only up to 16, and preferably no evening or weekend shifts.

Governments want disabled people back into work but close things like Remploy, would be almost laughable if it wasn't so cruel and frustrating

Are there any cafes etc ? I know here in Wales there's cafes that take on disabled people as staff

I've never looked into it but is there a list of Disability Confident Employers for your area ?

Kudos to you for keeping on trying. Good luck

That disability confident employer stuff is complete and utter bobbins, most employers put it on the ads but the majority of 'em don't mean it, it's just a legal requirement under the Equality Act.

As for the Remploy Factories, even if they were still a thing I'd refuse on principle to work full time for £2 a day, 8 hour days for 25p an hour? You what?! 18 years ago I did a similar role at a place called Reclaim, sorting recycled Coke cans, at the end of the third day, the manager gave me an envelope containing the paltry sum of £6 for a week's work, it took all I could do not to chuck it back in his face and go on a long rant about unequal pay.
