ADHD Referral Assessment Questions

Hi all!

My referral has gone through for my ADHD Assessment (March this year) which is good but the organisation I have chosen can't say when I'll have an appointment for the assessment even with Right To Choose. I knew the waiting times would be long but I'm honestly getting a bit desperate, I've felt like this for so long and the idea of continuing to feel like it for goodness knows how long, doesn't help.

I just wondered does anyone know of anywhere that offers an ADHD Assessment privately but has NHS funded prescriptions? I have a medical exemption for meds due to Epilepsy but I’m unsure of the correct terms hence the wording of the above question

If anyone can help or has any suggestions, that would be much appreciated.

Did you choose your provider from this list? Right to Choose - ADHD UK - Your NHS options

It gives an estimated wait time for each provider, and a lot of them aren't that long.

I chose HealthHarmonie Minds and it took around 6 weeks and 2 days from confirming my choice with my surgery/doctor to having my assessment.

Honestly it seems a lot better to me to just wait a few weeks rather than paying hundreds for a private assessment.

    Thanks Ross!

When I spoke to the organisation of choice that I sent my Right To Choose referral, they couldn’t tell me how long the wait will be. Unfortunately, the provider isn’t on the link you sent either.

I’m based in Shropshire, West Midlands so there aren’t many options and if anything, I’m becoming more frustrated but I’ll keep seeing if I can find anything else out

toffeeapples, your location shouldn't be limiting to who you can chose as most providers do video calls, so you wont have to travel for the assessment.

    Thanks for your comment Ross.
I have contacted my provider, again and explained how I’m feeling etc but they can’t give me any wait times. They suggested I contact my mental health team and speak to them so I’m waiting for a call from the duty nurse but I don’t see how that will help to be honest but I’ll try.
