I stopped work 0n 27th of March of this year due to ill health. can i inform the tax office about this via online

    Hi @sean22, welcome to the community. If you're employed by a company, you wouldn't usually need to do anything with your taxes.

    If you're self employed and will no longer be working, you may need to tell HMRC that you won't be filing any more tax returns and have ceased your business. There's some information about ending self-employment here and a link to log in to the system if you're already registered: https://www.gov.uk/stop-being-self-employed

    I am not self employed. I worked for a firm for 23 years and have now stopped working

    I didn't tell the tax man anything when I got kicked out, I just claimed legacy ESA after my wages were spent. I was only a lowly bus driver at the time, so maybe that is different?
