Folding Powerchair

I have been looking at folding, carbon fibre powerchairs, but quite honestly, they look a little on the flimsy sidside.

My class 3 powerchair is great, but would be next to impossible to transport. Have any of you a folding chair for going in a car etc?

I was up most of last night looking, I tend to do that if I get engrossed in something.

Those are active chairs' @SwiftFox, and you need well a well developed upper body to propel them. The power assist add ons are a nuisance to keep attaching and unattaching to the active chair, not to mention totally unsuitable for public transport. ( Very expensive into the bargain).

I suppose the popular Quickie Q50R Carbon is OK for occasional use, but tbh, the broken pavements around here are hard enough on the big Quickie Q700M I was out with earlier.

I'lI tell you one thing, being disabled is very expensive.

I have a foldable power chair that is very sturdy. The carbon one you shared looks super.. be interested to hear feedback.

max user weight on one is 136kg.. surely must be sturdy with that capacity.

I can't comment on other areas, but the pavements are a disgrace where I live, and I am like a crash test dummy sometimes, even in my class 3 powerchair. I'm sure they are all great in a shopping centre or wherever, but perhaps not very practical over real life broken pavements.

    I think i'll wait a while longer.

Yes, these chairs are great for shopping and medical settings…

Any.. uneven pavement and you can end up rolling into the road as they veer off. Then any raised slabs can be hazardous.

I've got an iConnect Zora folding powerchair from Careco, and it is fabulous for shopping, hospital visits etc. I've had it for 2 years and would be lost without it. It is very lightweight, and folds up to fit in any car boot. It's carbon fibre and really strong, and very comfortable.

It is not good on very uneven ground though, I use a mobility scooter for that.
