Old, disabled and depressed about politics
I know I don't come on here much and do so when I'm really low, which I am now. I expect many others are too. The thought of Reform getting into government feels me with so much dread I am hoping my time comes quickly now. I thank Scope for having these online discussion pages as I don't feel so alone. Years ago you would never tell anyone your politics or say who you voted for, it was a private thing. But I feel everyone should make sure they fully understand the party they are voting for and sad to say, how it effects you. It is selfish but what the heck, sounds like most political party's are selfish, they are all in it to make money for themselves and a solid career. I expect you'll take this down so I'm sorry in advance, but it feels better to get this off my chest as I feel so fed up now. 😕

Hi @JulieTuesday. I'm so sorry that you're feeling so low. We don't yet know what changes will be made so try not to worry too much. Do you have any support at home?
I've sent you a private message.

I didn't mean for this to sound so sad. Sorry for this. I am under GP for depression so please ignore above and lovely Scope delete if required. I shall ignore politics now for as long as possible. 🙃

There's nothing to apologise for @JulieTuesday. It's incredibly hard to ignore politics. You just need to look after your mental health.

Hi @JulieTuesday Please try not to worry. If you break all the figures down Reform have only won overall control of 13 councils and only have 8 MP's.
They might have 1300 council seats but they are not in charge of the councils.
There is 3 years before a General Election and a lot can happen in that time.
All parties will be under more scrutiny for a General Election and we will have seen how Reform run and manage councils for 3 years by then.
Some of the Local elections will have been a protest vote against the present Labour Government.
Please take care of yourself and feel free to discuss any worries you have.

I'm also worried about the rise of Reform UK, if they get in, as a middle aged disabled adult on benefits I'm pretty much doomed, even in the unlikely event I get a part time job.

Hi please don't apologise.
You have expressed how you feel in a polite manner.
A lot of people are feeling very despondent with the outcome of the Council election results and it does appear that we are in uncertain times.
Please try to focus on yourself and take of you as much as you can.
Sending you very best wishes and kind regards.

I'm 60 in December, and on benefits, disabled. Last worked 2023. Reform dosent understand what it's like being disabled. Need people to.email farage and tell him what it's like, and him to clarify more.

And you think he will care? Save yourself the trouble, concentrate on you and your family; the General Election is years away.
