in Start here and say hello!

hi looking for some advice. I’m my 16 yr old appointee, pip received her fotm and evidence om 23/4. I then had a phone call from Ingeus which only lasted 20 mins. The whole call was focusing on my daughter’s mobility and the same question was asked on different ways. Previously I had to court with DLA to get high rate mobility which I won. She also had high rate care. I’ve not heard anything since this quick call last Monday ( 8 days ago). Do I get a text if this was in fact a paper based review? So confused as I have no idea what to expect.

    I have never heard of Igeous.

    It sounds like it may be an assessment service used by the dwp

    When I had a paper based review I got a text saying my assessment was complete and then the decision letter two weeks later.

    thank you. They have been appointed to do the assessment the text says by DWP. But as my phone call was 8 days ago I’ve not had any further texts, so I’m not sure if that was an assessment and how long typically people receive a text after phone call.

    I think you only get a text if it was paper based.

    You could ring and request a copy of the assessors report and that will contain details of the assessor comments and points for each descriptor.

    The decision maker usually but not always agrees with the assessors recommendations.

    Unfortunately waiting times for decisions seem to vary a lot so its impossible to say when you will be informed by them.

    I’ve just rung the company who have been assigned and they’ve confirmed it said it was a paper based assessment and was completed 11/5 but I’ve heard nothing via text or letter as yet.

    You could ring the pip helpline and check whether a future payment is due to you but if it was paper based it sounds like they may have overlooked sending a text.

    The letters are usually sent out for claimants to receive two weeks after a decision has been made so if you don't receive it by tomorrow you may experience a delay due to the Bank holiday but you could check with your bank to see if a payment is due.

    thank you.im so stressed as I had to go court with her DLA and because she turned 16 we only got 6 months of her award as I wanted 2.5 years for court. I don’t know if I can face it all again.

    Ingeus is indeed a company used by the DWP in some UK locations. @Ruby1977 - please be assured that as DLA & PIP are completely different, just because you had to go to a tribunal for your daughter with her DLA claim doesn't mean the same with her PIP claim.

    Paper based PIP claims are usually (but not always) successful, so that's a good sign. I'm a tad wary of the PIP helpline as it's sometimes inaccurate. As mentioned there may be a delay in hearing further as to the decision due to postal delays & the Bank Holiday.

    I’ve just spoken to PIP direct as there was some confusion as to whether I’d spoken to the assessor from Ingeus, PIP had it down as three missed call attempts. They transferred me to someone else in PIP who said it was a paper based assessment and a report was completed on 11/5 may and received same day. It’s awaiting a case manager allocation. So at least I know it’s in progress.
