self catheterisation

I was diagnosed yesterday with an overactive bladder which is not emptying fully. I have been advised to catheterise 4 times daily. Last night I tried for the first time and was unsuccessful. I inserted catheter but no urine came out. Today I self-catherised and was successful a full bag of urine. This afternoon I tried again but no urine came out. I tried several times and inserted catheter fully but no urine at any of these attempts. I am very nervous about trying again

Hi @butterflyj welcome to the Community.

I am sorry you are struggling with your catheter. If you are worried tonight could you perhaps go to you A&E and ask for there help.

If it would wait until tomorrow get in touch with your GP.

    Take care.

I self catheterise too but for retention. Some days, especially if you’re new to self C, or you’re tired, the little holes in the catheter like to suck to the side of your bladder rather than allowing the liquid in if you understand what I mean. I’ve changed to a new style of device with micro holes all around to help stop this and I drain better.

Happy to chat if it helps!

Morning @butterflyj and welcome to the community. How are you this morning? Did you manage to sort it?
