Hi, my name is 3Js! How can we deal with our next door neighbour's behaviour?
I was hit by a car when I was 14 which has left me with back and leg problems I take strong medication for back pain daily, my husband is registered blind and has a guide dog called Phoenix we keep chickens as a means of giving us a reason to get going every day.
I found this website through a search as we are looking for help with a neighbour who is going out of her way to obstruct our access to land we rent adjacent to her drive which we have access rights over.
We have been entering the land through a gateway which is approximately two feet wide part of the land we rent is fenced off and used about five times a day as a toilet for the guide dog the rest of the land is used to store chicken feed and winter housing for our chickens.
Four years ago a lady purchased the house next door which owns the drive we have access rights over everything was fine until for no reason two years ago she started picking on us :-
She reported us to Enviromental Health for using our garden incinerator (at the time the wind was mild and no smoke went in her direction) I told them she has been harassing us and they noted the file and took no further action.
Four weeks later she reported us to Council Anti Social Behaviour saying we were watching her go to work and harassing her.
We attended mediation and she requested we change time we take our dog to toilet, we move our rubbish bins which are on our property near front gate because we have assisted collection due to health issues she wants them moved to other end of our garden.
And numerous other requirements all as unreasonable as above.
Mediator did not get very far only managed to get her to agree to be reasonable but after four weeks she had not signed agreement because she did not like the way he had worded it so we withdrew from mediation.
Since then she has been doing unreasonable things and one night was waiting by our garden gate blocked us from leaving with the dog and was drunk, she has now started putting her garden wheelie bin in the gateway to our rented land to block our access. Two days ago I moved bin to get feed from land we rent and she was stood with bin in gate refusing to let me out so I sat on step thinking she would eventually go away and I could move bin but she rang 999 told Police I was trespassing on her land stopping her from getting to her house and she said she was frightened my husband and I would hurt her but my husband was in the house she became hysterical when Police told her it was not a 999 matter she started jumping around and waving her arms which was very frightening she was told to go inside her house and lock her door which she did so I was able to go to my house but we have not heard anything from the Police so presume they are not going to do anything about her continually blocking our legal access.
I have spent £6,000 on solicitors but she ignores them the Police PCSO is often knocking on my door because she has made rediculous accusations and he has told us to keep away from her which we have done but she keeps coming to us.
6 o’clock one morning we had ambulance service knocking on our door because she had telephoned them and threatened to commit suicide but when they attended she was not home she later spoke to them and said she did not feel safe in her house so she went to her parents.
She has done many more things which makes us think she has mental health issues the Police once told my other neighbour they can tell from her behaviour she was under the influence of drink or drugs so to let them know if she went for a drive.
My husband has just been diagnosed with a heart problem and something at the base of his spine which we hope the MRI will tell us is not serious 🙏🤞we have enough to deal with without this neighbour.
We are both struggling with this and no one seems to be doing anything to help even though we reported to Police she was harassing us all they offered was victim crime support but talking is getting us nowhere.

That sounds incredibly difficult @3Js, I'm really sorry to hear how stressful it has been with your neighbour lately. I'm afraid I'm not too sure what other avenues you could pursue as it sounds like you've been doing everything you can to find solutions. But I hope our members might have some ideas of things to try.
If you're not already doing so, it may be worth keeping a diary of events so that you've got plenty of evidence should you need it.
Does your neighbour have any family that you could talk to very sensitively about her behaviour? It must be really difficult to know what to do without making things worse.

Yes I have a very full diary of all the things she has said and done, two years ago her mother said she is autistic so we should excuse her behaviour, her mother and sister have not visited for two years her father occasionally visits to do things for her but when we tried to talk to her father he just shrugs his shoulders says she will do what she wants and seems to think we should accept her behaviour because of her autism.

My late Grandparents had similar problems with their Neighbour several years ago, who also probably had severe mental health issues, she was spreading muck across their side of the Fence, and I remember one time, the equally mad husband was outside with his dog, behind the Gate thankfully, the dog was growling and bearing its teeth, I was terrified and was frozen on the wall of the passage to Nan's House, the guy threatened to let the dog out to get me, I tell you if he had done, I probably wouldn't be telling you guys about it now.

Total cop out, I'm on the Autism spectrum but I'd never act like this.

Hi @3Js, I'm sorry you're having to deal with all of this, it sounds very stressful. That's good that you have a diary. I found some information here which could be useful I know you've tried some of the steps mentioned already.
Have you got any photo or video evidence of what's been happening?
