Newly diagnosed autistic adult needing help with my first PIP form
Hi everyone, I am BakingCat99. I am a newly diagnosed adult with autism and I am currently being referred for ADHD. I am trying to fill out my first PIP form but I am completely overwhelmed and lost my drive after a bad experience with Citizens Advice. I am finding it very hard to explain how my conditions affect my daily life without feeling judged.Could anyone help me understand how to translate my daily struggles (like executive dysfunction, focus, and sensory overload) into the specific descriptors the DWP looks for? Any advice or tips on where to start would be deeply appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @BakingCat99 and a warm welcome to the community from me!
The pip forms can be quite overwhelming and sometimes quite can stir quite emotional feelings so it's understandable why you feel this way.
Here is some information on claiming PIP for autism which I hope will be helpful😊0 -
No one here can help or will help with your PIP form as they don't know anything about you, so it'll be impossible to give you guidance on what to write. You need to write how your conditions affect you and give some examples of what happens when you do them and what the consequences are when you attempt them.
If you can't write it yourself, try having someone who knows you well to write it out. Citizens advice are mostly useless when it comes to PIP.

Hi @BakingCat99
Welcome to the forum - Im sorry to hear you had a poor experience with Citizens Advice. Perhaps reach out to an Autism specific charity for help with PIP as they may have the knowledge to help.
You can also visit the advice local website to find other organisations near to you.
Citizens Advice do have a guide you can use as well on their website
I would also make contact with your support network if possible as you may find as you navigate this process that you do feel judged and to find strategies to manage this. I think the majority of disabled people feel judged when managing PIP.
I hope this helps?

Hi,
These guys have lot of helpful guides (I found it too overwhelming tbf-PTSD)
I think these guys have an option to get help with the form. I think it's paid but honestly if you're struggling it's a good option I think. I hid under a blanket & didn't complete the form-don't do that :-)
