Anyone who knows anything about cars, will be amazed to hear that the, once, common as muck Vauxhall Cavalier is just about gone. I had 2, in the 80's, so did my Dad and half of my street.

says that there are currently just 3 left taxed in the whole of the UK..

Could be a good investment - if you can find one.

I found that site a while ago, thanks for reminding me about it!!

Often very "ordinary" stuff becomes valuable in years to come because people don't tend to invest the time and money into caring for them. Something like an E-Type Jag I imagine there are hundreds left because people were motivated to maintain and preserve them from day one.

Sadly that site isn't very reliable, but it is interesting. Also worth noting that many people only tax retro cars during the summer months now. Keeping them dry stored during winter. You might find several more taxed during show season around August.

Of course, the Cavalier didn't really disappear, it just got a new name in the late 90s. There are still plenty of Vectra's about! Although it's been nearly 20 years since that name was dropped as well…

As it happens, I know of someone with a tidy Cavalier. (Fairly well known on social media).

After reading this thread I checked and confirmed his is currently taxed and MOT'd. 🙂

Well this is something I didn't know I'd be interested in! I looked up my car and was actually surprised at how many different versions of it there are. So I had to get out my log book to see what it is (there was no way I would have guessed correctly) and there are 3,750 of them!

Here's my car - a Suzuki Baleno SZ5 Automatic - they must be one of the most reliable cars going - they've been produced since 2017 and 99% are still on the road (still less than 1000 though)

Some cars must've have even gone extinct by now.
