But who can it be? Such cunning insertion of a number, it has me totally fooled. (Welcome back from me too).

Thank you! Unfortunately, I couldn't recover my old data from the broken drive, but I'm still alive and here!
How did it go without me?1 -
Just awful, we only just made it, it was touch and go for a while! 😉

Rachel,
You certainly have some experience learning languages. Which language did you want to get back into learning ?

I got completely carried away and went mad learning languages on Duolingo starting in 2014. For quite a while I had the record number of golden (complete) trees (how the courses used to be referred to). I have 74 open courses there still.
But while I could read and understand about 20 languages I couldn't actually speak them because of my total lack of social skills and acute social anxiety:(
But I was able to watch series in all of them and become familiar with lots of different cultures which was fascinating.
Now my special interest has switched to plants but I recently went back to Duolingo and am actually speaking with their AI, so far in French and Spanish. Not all languages have that option which is a shame. It has occurred to me that this might eventually lessen my phone phobia as I can't use one normally.

What I keep hearing from language-profession colleagues is that Duolingo isn't actually very helpful at getting you to learn a language properly. It worries me to hear that that's how Prince William is trying to learn Welsh - as Prince of Wales, he probably needs proper professional help!

Yes HELLO to you too

I've heard similar about duolingo @Florine. I've used it before and it was good but I think you really need to be using it in conversation with someone to really become fluent. I'm thinking about using it again, I'm just not sure what language to learn. Anyone have any suggestions? I've done French and German (obviously not fluent though 😂)
