Mine was Let Go by Avril Lavigne! I remember being so excited and I listened to it on my portable CD player all the timeπŸ˜„

What's yours?

Album cover of Avril Lavigne's "Let Go," featuring the singer standing with arms crossed on a blurry city street.

My first vinyl record as I recall was Tom Hark by The Piranhas, way back when I was about 4 in 1980.

My first cassette was probably Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds, original 1979 version with Phil Lynott as the Parson Nathaniel and Julie Covington as his wife.

Julie Covington, that brings back memories - 'Rock Follies' on TVin the '70's, I'm sure she was the first to record 'Don't Cry for me Argentina'.

My first CD was The Sound of Philadelphia 🀩.

I bought my mum a cd album with all the old singers on. I left her listening to it and after a while, she phoned me up and said, I've turned the record over and theirs no music coming outπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

First CD - Now that's what I call Music volume 40 (mid 1998) that's when I moved away from Cassettes, I then visited a friend who owned a second hand store and replaced all the earlier nows from cassette to CD. I eventually stopped at 84 (2013). However I've recently brought all the Yearbook editions.

I can't remember my first! It was either:

    • Britney Spears - Baby One More Time
    • Christina Aguilera
    • Robbie Williams - I've Been Expecting You

I loved that Avril Lavigne album @Mary_Scope! That was the first I took out in my portable CD player. It used to skip a lot though from bumps on the school bus πŸ˜‚

Yeah I bought Now 23 in 1992, purely because it'd got about 4 songs on it I wanted, such as:

    Tetris - Dr Spin

Supermarioland - Ambassadors of Funk ft MC Mario

Digging in the dirt - Peter Gabriel

    Sleeping Satellite - Tamsin Archer

Remember way back around May 1992 when Dr Spin got to number 1 with the theme from the Gameboy version of Tetris? Still arguably one of the greatest video game themes ever!
