PIP MR

I had an MR following unsuccessful 1st claim. I received a phone call from PIP on late on a Friday afternoon asking if I can handle a lump sum of money 💰 n my account and if I’d been out of the country or in prison or hospital recently. I was told to wait for a letter. I called the helpline the following Thursday and was told a decision had been made the day before. That was a week ago and I’ve heard nothing. Is this normal. Does the original phone call mean I’ve been successful?

Hi @nowyouseeme, welcome to the community ☺️

The call you've received about the lump sum is quite standard when they've made a decision. Unfortunately, it doesn't always mean that it's a positive result either as they sometimes still ask people who haven't been awarded. But I really hope it's a positive result for you. Hopefully you'll get a letter soon to confirm, but you could try giving them another ring if you're worried.

Was this your first time claiming PIP or was this from a review?

Why would they ask those questions of somebody not about to receive a large sum? That would be a waste of everyone's time.

Hi @nowyouseeme - & welcome to the forum from me too. Here's hoping you get a positive result with your PIP MR.

As Rosie correctly says, these are standard questions, &, as we've seen on this forum, don't always mean getting PIP is guaranteed. It may take a couple of weeks to get your decision letter, so I'd wait for that.

Please keep in touch & let us all know how you get on.

Best of luck @nowyouseeme! It's a nerve wracking process but fingers crossed this will be a better result for you and you can relax. How long ago did you start the claim?
