Hi I can finally come of universal credit I have been working full time but my daughter passed away so her children came to iive with me they have known left full time education so I went to close my claim and they advised me to keep it open for months but I don't want to I hated been on it as even tho I told them everything I felt like a criminal, any advice on this please.

    Hi @dolly4, I'm so sorry to hear your daughter passed away, that must have been really difficult for you and your grandchildren. I hope you're all managing okay.

    It's your choice whether you'd like to come off Universal Credit, especially as it sounds like you'd be managing okay without it. Do you think you might need the top ups in future?

    If you'd definitely like to close your claim you can put through the request again and hopefully they can sort it for you.

    Hi,

    You can choose to close your claim whenever you prefer.

    Is the claim now down to £0 payment?

    If yes, there is no need to keep it open. But they are correct in that if anything changes unexpectedly, it is easier to keep using the old claim than having to start the whole claim process again.

    Thank you I've asked them to close it they said they will look into it but before I closed it I sent my bank statements my tenants agreement and proof that granddaughters where in college for the full year and I don't owe them any money as far as am aware x
