Hello , please can I ask for views or some advice regarding myself.

I'm a young adult , I have recently had a health assessment & I've been given a uc83 form as of yesterday.

I am currently speaking to various people , while I wish to keep my own views personal, I've been encouraged to make an appeal regarding the decision & would like to know of anyone here has advice/websites I can use etc…

1 thing that puzzles me - the wording is very similar between these forms & I quote part of the letter:

"

Although we recognise your health condition, you no longer need to provide medical evidence including sick notes. This is because you have been assessed as capable to undertake some form of work.

"

I'm curious if my UC50 form that details my conditions has not changed since when I completed it back in 2024, what has changed ? compare this to the uc81 & its curious.

is my theory that mental health conditions are being downgraded & overlooked true or am I overthinking?

Hi, the WCA has found you fit for work. This decision overrides any Fit Notes or past LCWRA award.

You can speak to a local welfare rights organisation for help with your Mandatory Reconsideration & appeal if the decision isn't changed.

Hi @martinezXgonzales and welcome to the community. Here is some information about making an appeal https://www.scope.org.uk/advice-and-support/challenging-pip-or-other-benefits-decisions

Every case is different so it's impossible to say why you were found fit to work. Was the assessment face to face?

For some highly annoying reason, this keeps and will keep happening because the DWP are desperate to remove the "burden" of the MASSIVE benefits Bill.

People who could no more go out and work than I could put on one of my Bird costumes and fly South for the Winter, being declared fit to work but some pen pushing DWP jobsworth who knows nothing about the person's medical history or anything…

The irony is, in December 2015 I was declared "unfit" to work, despite the fact I'd spent most of the previous 20 years doing voluntary work for almost every registered Charity in Sheffield so is it not obvious I could work in "some" capacity?

Must you always insult our public sector workers?

Every condition doesn't fit the standard "Pidgeon hole" or " 1 size fits all", the fatal flaw in humanity esp with the rise of AI.

Conditions vary - my annoyance is that people assume that your going to be a person, stuck at home vegating, that really disappoints me,

from my case the impression I have had already is :

even though my CBT team failed to provide a final letter stating I had mental health issues, its my fault as I couldnt find an alterative, I question that - why would I put my trust into the same people as if they lost my paperwork once & told some mistruths about the issue?

Also I'm doing further education & online volunteer work, my case is frowned upon, so its my fault I'm trying to better myself.

Lastly the big fashion faux pas that's grating with me is that I go outdoors to get fresh air, yet I'm given the impression I should be at home, doing zero - just a silent person & hidden away.

Baffling logic from many people at present.

I believe in free speech so I'm glad you have psoted the truth about your situation, the moaners on here are liekly to of never experienced such issues, that will change oddly when weither they or a family member has issues.

    Strange that!!!!

Many thanks for the comments, I've added seprate comments, to add an update,

I've asked for an full breakdown of the reasoning to the decision,

I'm going to contact the health assessors for a breakdown of their report(if they have bar my notes as my request for a recording never got to them), also I'm requesting the Ladies letter as promised to me which I never got from the completed 20/5 interview, I'm also asking for the original letter from Sept 2024 uc50 which I never received & also the letter from July 2025 which I've been informed stated the review would take place in July 2026 & I'd have to complete a new uc50 form, the annoying part is my advisor stated that the evidence I have should be enough back in the autumn.

I had a phone call from the CAB & the impression I got wasn't really good, the onus was put on myself for not getting the completed CBT session letter which would of said I have a mental health condition.

Why is it I'm having to prover that I have this constantly…. ad infintum…. its just plain weird to me.

also I have an appointment but not till July 2nd, so I'll only have a week to put forward I'm appealing the decision.

it seems like to me that you have to record every single damn detail & note now also.

Another observation - attitudes towards mental health here in the UK are being absolutely wrecked, it seems like it only matters if your a celeb or politician or from demographics such as class, earnings status or political leaning.

progression is becoming regression here - just a wake up call to people is needed.

good point about the charity work - doing this is vastly different from a part time/full time job, maybe because of the expectations but also because of other factors.

the same is true of going outdoors to get fresh air. maybe you have to go to buy a couple of things - that's 100% different than working in a public place esp today with 24/7 camera & facial recognition going on.

No context is ever asked for in these situations therefore the arguments is voided before its started. its a stock response from people also I don't see where the insult is?????

    No shrug emoji so ….🙈🙉🙊

Unfortunately its been happening for years and years and is progressively getting worst by the day. Also like yourself people don't notice until it starts affecting them. Its kinda like the saying "out of sight, out of mind" and unless things affect majority of people regardless of anything that minority group is always going to be marginalised.

Indeed, the number of times I've been called the R word both online and in person is beyond ridiculous.

It should, but never will, be classed as a hate crime IMO.

Like that time I got called a "deaf C [removed by moderator - language]" at work, the guy was very lucky I didn't knock him into the following Friday, I just walked away.

Be the bigger guy though, their ignorance will make their lives miserable, when everything's under a controlled state of mind & everything's viewed 24/7, they will be the next target for whatever reason.

Our 'fatal flaw' (see Iain Duncan Smith's supposed "fundamental flaw in the ESA regulations") was failing to stop the passage of the Welfare Reform and Work Bill. By 2016, all our attention was on Brexit by some coincidence!

As you say in a later post, we don't notice things until they affect us.

I wasn't old enough to vote, but I would of voted brexit as I wanted the UK on WTO trade, not tied to the EU.

be thankful we dont have to pay the "pandemic" bill, how much was that doozy?
