Can’t afford air-con so…

At the moment I’ve got ceiling fan, but it’s not as cool as I thought it would be. So which is the best fan?

I've got a bladeless one and its brilliant. Not the very expensive one from the hoover makers…but from a certain German supermarket. Probably all sold out by now but worth getting one if you can 👍.

I have the larger one that cools my quite large living room or bedroom.

We have a 'wind machine' which I think is also referred to as a high velocity fan. It's very powerful but it doesn't have a tall stand so you'd have to have something to put it on if you wanted it to cool your face. We have ours on top of our bedroom drawers and it keeps us cool in the night. It is a little loud though!

Fans just move hot air around. If you want to cool a room, AC is the only option.

I do actually have an expensive fan from the vacuum brand (bought on sale at a bargain price!) but I was sorely disappointed with it. The fan function is pointless for me personally. But it does have one upside which I hadn't considered when buying it. It's got such fine filters that it can clear the room of pollen or dust fairly quickly (after closing windows of course!).

Mine does also have a heating function, which is what I've been using as the sole source of heat in here for the last few winters. So it wasn't a complete waste of money…

I witnessed Fan Wars in Lidls today … 2 people arguing who was there first for the last Bladeless fan

I don't know who won. I just walked away thinking just toss a coin … or ask if there's any more in the back

… I was so tempted to just pick it up, but one head shake from the boss put paid to that idea

The great fan wars of 2026 😂 Imagine their reaction if you picked it up @WelshBlue!

I can't tell you how much I wanted to just for giggles, … but that one shake of the head, I knew I couldn't 😁

I spent the best £1.99 in Home Bargains. a spritzing bottle attached to a battery operated fan

Bargain; because oh my life it's the best invention ever

All this hot weather must have been difficult for you @chatterbox7! Is it cooling off where you are now?

I've seen people with fans that they wear around their necks and those look pretty good. Hands free anyway!

I have a fan blowing on my bedside table in my room, had to unplug it this morning though to put my phone on charge.

Also, I'll probably have fans at Karaoke night after tea, for some strange reason they actually like my singing! I'm not knocking it though 😅
