hi everyone!

so I got a message today on my Journal saying they want 4 months bank statements, is this normal ? I don’t have any savings in my account or any other money going in apart from UC & PIP. so I’m not concerned in terms of savings or anything - just got my thinking is this normal.

Yes, UC have been undertaking many of these reviews for several years now.

    See this thread for information.

Just so you're aware UC will be looking at your total capital, this is money in any and all bank accounts, owned property other than your residential address, etc.

Unspent UC & PIP after a time go from being classed as income to capital.

With UC capital under £6k is ignored, £6k-15,999k a small deduction would be made, then over £16k there would be no entitlement to UC.

Hi @sam7399 just wanted to pop and reiterate what Kimi has said. You have nothing to worry about based on what you've said in your post - it's pretty standard now 😊

@Holly_Scope I’ve uploaded my bank statements. stupid question but why they asking for this when they can just get this information from my bank ?

I couldn't say for sure, but I think they're limited to certain circumstances where they're able to do this and the information they're able to access is also limited.

Pleased you've got it all submitted. I'm sure it'll be done and dusted in no time and from what you've said, they likely won't have further questions for you.

because the DWP don't actually check bank accounts unless it's part of a fraud investigation.
