Appeal question
hello everyone
i applied for pip but only received 6 points for Daily living
and 4 for mobility
I did a MR and provided further evidence and after speaking to a Decision maker confirmed that it still remains unchanged.
He himself may have not been the original decision maker and said do an appeal and suggested that i may have more chance and said iam not far off from getting the award..
Can i get some help to do an appeal and is there any cost.
Upon doing an appeal how long does it take?
Thanks
Sadie

It varies by area, some times it can be a week or 2, some times you can be waiting months.

Hi,
You can start the Tribunal Appeal online now - Appeal a benefit decision: Submit your appeal - GOV.UK
There is no cost to doing it. If you would like some help, you can ask at your local Citizens Advice or Disability Advice services if there are any nearby.
Most appeals take many months, it is not a quick process. Sometime the DWP will contact you again before the tribunal to offer you an award.

Hi,
If you don't have access to the services in the post above, I would recommend starting your appeal online asap to get the ball rolling, and booking the CAB for 8 weeks time to help further.
Personally I did my own without any professional help - but with advice from this forum, and succeeded. So it is possible without any professional help if you feel up to it.

Hi @Sad77, are you able to tell us which charity organisations are asking for a percentage of your backdated payments please?
There's lots of information here that may be useful . My mum was able to get help with her appeal forms from a local organisation. Have you looked at smaller charities or organisations local to you that may have shorter waiting times?

hi guys
I did a tribunal appeal but the dwp did not respond by the deadline on the 1st of July 2026
the tribunal sent this email can someone explain what it means“Good morning,
Thankyou for your email
The DWP have not yet responded to the appeal.
The appeal will be sent to one of our legal officer in due time.
When the legal officer reviews the appeal they will send out further information on the next steps of the appeal. We currently do not have timescales for legal officers
Many thanks,
Daniel”

Hi @Sad77
It sounds like your appeal is still in the holding queue and needs to be responded to, hopefully it won't be much longer now.

I have got this text what does this mean , I had submitted a tribunal but the DWP never replied and it never got to the tribunal hearing

They might be making you an offer before tribunal. You would have to call the number to find out. That is the correct number, but I would recommend manually dialling it rather than clicking the link just in case it's not genuine.

do I have to accept there offer or can still pursue this with the tribunal?

they have offered me standard on both
But I feel i should be getting enhanced , i have asked the case manager to give me until tomorrow to think , but want to pursue this with Tribunal

Hi,
It is your choice. If you believe you would get Enhanced at Tribunal then you can reject the offer and continue with the Tribunal.
It is also possible to accept this offer so that you get some money, and then start a new appeal in the hope of getting Enhanced. But as that would be a completely new appeal, you would have to go through the same length of wait again for that.

hi guys
The case manager called me and asked if iam a Carer for my husband who is also on pip for over 9 years , i said i was until 6 months as I couldn’t continue and now our daughter looks after us , she said she will review again and make notes for tribunal .
Does this mean it will get rejected

Unfortunately it's not possible to tell from that short interaction @Sad77. Did she say if she would update you and did you reject their offer?

she said she would add notes for the tribunal and review but did not mention that she will call or update
