in Start here and say hello!

i’m 25, neurodivergent – awaiting adhd/autism assessment, with mental health issues/some past trauma and mild physical symptoms likely due to deconditioning from spending long stretches indoors.

i struggle with looking after myself, my surroundings, leaving the house etc and currently live in a messy flat with family (also struggling).

i joined here both to receive support myself and contribute.

i’m queer, a-spec, leftist, vegan, and a massive believer in disability justice, environmental justice, racial justice and basically every other form of social justice.

my 3 favourite things are:

  • my chemical romance (band)
  • twenty one pilots (band)
  • good omens (book, tv show, written by terry pratchett and terry pratchett only)

i also enjoy watching youtube, especially dan & phil and tom scott, and enjoy researching all kinds of random topics and rabbits holes.

    I don't go to a lot of gigs but I was very lucky to see My Chemical Romance at Wembley a couple of weeks back. It was such a good show. I love all the theatrical elements they weave into their stuff. Have you got a favourite album of theirs?

    are you kidding me?? i was at wembley too :) they were absolutely phenomenal and i agree.

    i don’t have a favourite album because it’s impossible to choose, but i’ve been digging danger days recently since they re-released it and it seems to be tying into the long live the black parade lore.

    Oh brilliant @syntheticanimal, glad you got to go! It was the nicest crowd as well, did you find that? Everyone seemed to be so kind and thoughtful towards others around them. Even down to when we were leaving.

    I've been listening a lot since too. I wonder if they'll ever do a Danger Days tour now they've re-released it.

    The last Concert I attended was the real Fisherman's Friends at Sheffield City Hall last November.

    And thankfully, despite having been at a comic con in Town all day, I didn't fall asleep.

    i did!! i think because their music appeals to those who have tended to feel weird or outcast, people know how it feels so are more likely to make an effort to not make others feel that way. it was beautiful to see so many ‘emos’ all grown up.

    yeah maybe, danger days definitely seems relevant and they seemed eager to play and eager to tour throughout these european shows so i hope they come back with something soon

    Nice to meet you. What kinds of topics do you like researching? I tend to use Wikipedia even though academics tend to shun it, because it's somewhat verified and people have to cite their sources. Nothing is unbiased but I find it closer to neutrality than reading things like the mass media. I know what you mean about rabbit holes as it's easy to read an article then have 10 tabs open from things you clicked within that first article 🫠

    They're a group of RNLI volunteers down in Port Isaac, Cornwall, who also have Fishing boats and have a sideline as a group who sing Sea Shanties.

    There's been 2 movies about them, both of which are on Amazon Prime.

    Hi

    I have been lucky enough to see Fisherman's friends singing in their local pub at Port Isaac

    They lay on regular sessions throughout the winter, and weather permitting they perform on the beach if the tide is out.

    I will probably nip down there to see them this autumn.

    One of them owns a clothes shop there.

    They are very friendly and always up for a chat.
