Is it worth applying for pip again?

Hi there

Recently i was denied pip after a review after receiving it in 2015 and also denied with a MR, now its in appeal stage, after help with the citizens advice bureau.

Is it worth reapplying for pip whilst waiting for the tribunial outcome as this has been troubling me. Or do i just wait.

    Usually people wait for the tribunal outcome before reapplying @GPHughes, have you been waiting long for it?

    @Mary_Scope i was denied in april and lost pip and my wife lost her carers, put in a mandatory review and was still denied and put in an appeal of a tribunial with help from citizens advice bureau on july 6th. Dwp got to let me and cab know by september whats going to happen. Should i have to wait 18 months for an appeal/tribunial i may reapply

    Sorry to hear you've had a rough time with your PIP claim @GPHughes. Lots of people have more success at tribunal level, so it may be worth the wait if you can manage it. Hopefully you won't be waiting too long to hear back from them. Did you find Citizens Advice helpful for coping with the appeals process?

    You must prepare well for the tribunal. Keep all your evidence and get advice from an experienced PIP adviser. One of the most common reasons people are not awarded PIP is that they do not fully explain how their health conditions affect their daily living and mobility.

    In my case, when the DWP moved me from DLA to PIP, I was not awarded PIP and I lost my tribunal because I did not explain my difficulties properly. After the tribunal, I read a lot of information about PIP, learned how the assessment works, and made a new claim. This time, I explained my difficulties much better and provided stronger evidence, and I was awarded the enhanced rate for both the daily living and mobility components.

    If you lose at the tribunal, you can make a new PIP claim. Before doing so, it's a good idea to visit your GP and any relevant hospital specialists to obtain additional medical evidence about your health conditions and how they affect your daily life.

    @GPHughes the main issue with reapplying is that if you later win your tribunal, any decision made on your new PIP claim can supersede the tribunal award.

    For example, if you submit a new claim today and it's refused (or you're given a lower award), but your tribunal later decides you should have received the enhanced rate, the tribunal's decision would usually only apply from the date of the original decision up to the date of the new decision for the new claim. After that, the new claim decision takes over.

    @Emilee i was advised to make a new claim but decided against as it would.muck up the current one.

    If i gotta wait 18 months then so be it. I have my medical notes and photocopied them when i sent in for the MR.

    Yes i found cab were helpful and even the advisor said i should have had more points on both categories
