Strange phone call ... HAAS , DWP numbers concerning LCWRA

At 10:52 my phone rang and someone ringing from 0800 260 7000 started talking to me about my lcwra claim saying he wanted to get it all sorted out today . He claimed he had requested information from my doctors but i hadnt given access to my medical notes ( i was pretty sure i had ) we had a brief discussion about what i needed to do so i followed his advice and called my doctors .

He gave me his office number starting in 0300 which i found a little odd as it was different from the numbr he was calling on . After i called the doctor surgery they explained it had to be a physical form i needed to fill in to allow access etc so i had to go to the surgery ( not good with general and social anxiety ). I called him back on the 0300 number and explained what the surgery said. He said It was ridiculous of them to expect someone with my issues to have to make trips to the doctors when most surgeries authorize these things over the phone for benefits and that he would sort it out for me .

After the call I was extremely anxious as to exactly what was happening and even if it was a legitimate call as there was nothing on my universal credit account mentioning it. So i called universal credit and they had no trace of anyone calling me . i then called capita and retold the full story , They actually found that the person in question had called and it was all legitimate which eased my mind a little . The strange thing is he called me again after and said the following "Ive sorted it all for you now youll have a decision within 10 days" . Im confused as i havent even had an lcwra assessment yet so how can there be a decision ?

Has anyone else had anything similar happen ?

    Hi @AdeT1973. That does sound a bit unusual!

    It may be that they have all the information they need and are assessing you from that. Paper-based assessments are quite rare for Work Capability Assessments, but they do happen from time to time. It's possible that's what he meant, but it's difficult to say! Did he ask you any questions about your health in the call? Or was it all about getting access to your health records?

    Hi ,

    It was solely he needed access to my doctors reports which i granted . He said he had looked at the file already and just needed confirmation by means of my doctors records . he did quickly chat and said he understood my predicament as he has 2 autistic family members. It all seemed very matter of fact, like " im getting this sorted today " . i am aware he doesnt actually make the decision . i will wait and see and update you . thank you for replying .

    We are asked on the application form to tick if we agree to them accessing our medical notes and our Doctors.

    If you ticked to agree then they would contact your Doctor if needed, otherwise they should respect the fact that you didn't agree if that was the case and do their assessment accordingly.
