Yes, I agree, your first step is to ask your GP to refer you to your local audiology or ENT clinic. They’ll check your ears for any obvious causes (such as wax), do some hearing tests for you and if needed arrange further tests (such as an MRI scan of the inner ears). They can also discuss options with you for managing the hearing loss if needed.
