Chronic illness , mental health and family issues
Hey all ! I’m looking to find people who struggle with chronic illness and zero family support or care. I have an amazing partner BUT I can’t deal ! New here so I’ve no idea what to say !

I am coping alone, no partner or family. It isn’t ideal, but I find it helpful not to look too far ahead.

Hi @LaLa36 and welcome to the community. Sorry to hear you're struggling. There will be lots of members who can empathise with you and hopefully they'll share their story. Have you spoken to your partner about how you feel?

Sadly when we are battling mental health and physical health conditions that lead to us becoming a different person, things can change in the blink of an eye. I closed off all contact with my family in 2015, then in 2023 my second ex wife walked out on me. I have also closed all contact with friends as well.
Since then I have come to the conclusion that I am better off on my own, I am still standing no matter what obstacles or challenges that are put in my place, I have my bad days and some good days. I have been battling since 1983 and have overcome a lot of things in 43 years and still have a lot more to overcome.
I have personally vowed never to enter into any form of relationship, I don’t have to have someone sat across from me as a partner saying “You Don’t Want To Get Better” alongside putting massive pressure and strain on my fragile health. Plus I have paid for two divorces already, don’t want a third.I look back to when I was a kid and can see even then I was fiercely independent, preferred my own company and life over the last six years have just changed me not just as a person but also mentally and physically.

Welcome to the community @LaLa36! That sounds really difficult, sorry to hear you haven't got much support at the moment. As Rachel says, I'm sure there's lots of other members who will have similar experiences, so you're not alone here. Feel free to join in with any of the chats ☺️
You've lived through an awful lot @Rag_793. Sorry to hear your ex said that to you, that must have been incredibly hurtful. And I can understand why letting people in might be difficult after having experiences like that. Always a good philosophy to take each day as it comes and work out what feels best for you. I hope the community can be a place where you can connect with others on your own terms ☺️
