Hi @Ibry and welcome to the community. When receiving UC, Carers Allowance is counted as income and is deducted from your UC award. There is the extra Carer Element and I see your wife is already claiming that which is good.

Any deductions are made after adding up each element, including LCWRA. Are there some deductions that you're not sure about?

Your LCWRA itself isn't deducted, it's part of your total UC entitlement.

Universal Credit works by first adding up entitlements, then making any deductions.

Carers Allowance is an overlapping benefit with Universal Credit which means it's deducted in full.

It's classed as an income replacement benefit the same as UC.

Under the welfare system, a person or couple cannot have multiple income replacement benefits alongside UC which is means tested.

Your wife still gets the CA payment into her bank account so you are no worse off compared to a couple in identical circumstances but not getting CA.

Perhaps i am just too dumb to figure out deductions from UC but it seems to me year on year my income is set to decrease even after yearly uprated Benefit increases because earlier this year my total benefit award was reduced by £40 per month due to increases in rent which was then deducted from my LCWRA. And because rent increases always seem to be more than Benefit increases my total benefit award looks likely to reduce every year.

It sounds like you get Transitional Protection on your claim, so what happens is any increase to your UC entitlement (including Housing Element) gets deducted from the Transitional Protection. Once the Transitional Protection reaches zero, those deductions will stop as you can't take away from zero.

Turn2Us has a great guide here:
