    I was having a lovely lie down until this came through! I honestly thought we were at war or something.

    I totally agree that it was unnecessary. A message without the noise would have been much better.

    Is there anyway that Scope could speak to the government about the need of many disabled people for being able to get the alerts without the noise? It seems this has been missed as an issue

    J Having been out for a depressing ride on my scooter earlier in the day and seeing first hand all the dead plants and dying trees and how the whole lot could just catch and spread so easily I was pleased to hear the alert despite it making me jump really badly and set my heart racing because anything that can make people more careful and show how serious it is out there and that it is being taken seriously is worth doing.

    The difference just a few days had made to already dry countryside was truly horrifying after that last hot spell.

    And this morning I have woken to the smell of smoke and am left guessing how far away it is and in which direction it's travelling and whether there are any fire crews available to deal with it when they are already so busy their numbers having been decimated by the Tory austerity years.

    My chest is tight and painful even with it miles away. The awfulness and fear if it gets closer makes any upset from being made to jump by the alert pale in comparison and I am phobic about phones ringing so don't think I wasn't shaken by it or take lightly the effect it can have.ust the situation out there is terrifying and people need to be so very careful.

    Didn't bother me at all, when I heard it and it wasn't even loud, I just thought 'Oh, that's new'.

    There was a link during covid telling us how to disable the government alerts and I did that.

    In Russia and Ukraine, ordinary people use Telegram to warn of missile and UAV attacks. This is faster than official warnings through telecom operators.
