Pension / universal credit

Hi there

Was wondering if anyone knows the answer to this . I’m on income related esa ( well it was that before switched over to U.C)

I have a small private pension . I’m looking to transfer money to it occasionally to top it up. Is this allowed ? Or do they see it as deprivation of capital?

Thank you

    Hi,

Legacy ESA and UC have slightly different rules so always best to say UC now.

You are allowed to pay money into a private pension as long as it comes from income rather than savings. So basically transfer the money from your most recent UC payment, instead of transferring it to a savings account one month and then to the pension another month.
