Renewing disabled persons bus pass, with carer
Hello
Just received new disabled person's bus pass, with carer, which lasts one year. Puzzled as to time as have had disabled person's bus passes for three years in past. Ten year Pip is due for renewal next year, might that be why? Am age 67. Am hoping to be awarded a further ten years Pip. Have lots of medical evidence to give them. Next years bus pass likely to be being renewed whilst in process of Pip renewal, e.g. DWP can get in touch with me anytime from April 2027. Would a neurology letter be helpful nearer the time sayng unfit to drive due to drug resistant epilepsy? Going forward I would like to receive three or five year Disabled person's bus pass as rely on buses lots, with carer, as need another person many times to accompany me to minimise risk.
Thank you for guidance

If you qualify automatically with your PIP points then yes a 1 year pass has likely been issued due to your end date.
You can apply on "unfit to drive" grounds next time while your PIP is being updated.
Your local authority concessionary travel team/website will have the criteria and suggestions of acceptable evidence.

Thank you. Will get in touch with local authority nearer time of next renewal to see what they need for a longer bus pass
