Weird food favourites 🫛
Anyone else enjoy eating things that others might find a bit grim?
For me, it's cold pease pudding on its own straight from the tin. With a teaspoon of course. My cupboard is never out of stock of these bad boys:
I am also partial to cold mushy peas. The proper fluorescent green ones. But I will NOT eat cold baked beans. I draw the line at that 😄
Have you got any weird favourite foods? Or any weird food combos you enjoy?

Many years ago whilst checking into a plush Hotel in SE Asia i noticed lots of signage stating Durian fruit is not allowed in the Hotel due to its very pungent aroma. I'd never even heard of Durian fruit so a day or so later when i noticed it being sold in a street food market i gave it a go and it was absolutely delicious! I've since discovered very few Western people can stomach durian fruit but folks from that part of the world (SE Asia) all seem to love it.

Mmmm gherkins @Dynamisante! Do you eat them together with the crisps? I visited the USA a couple of years ago and tried Dill Pickle crisps. Delicious! Wish I'd brought some back with me!
I've heard a lot about durian but never tried it @MrHappy2! I'd like to one day. What sort of taste does it have? Does it taste similar to anything else or is it it's own thing?

Fried onion sandwiches, where the onions are almost charred 😅 I only have it very rarely as onions don't agree with me anymore, but it was a favourite student meal and I still crave it all these years later.
The thought of cold mushy peas and pease pudding makes me feel a little nauseous though @Rosie_Scope

I agree @Emilee, I'm definitely not feeling good after thinking about cold pease pudding 🤢
I'm too fussy to have any weird food favourites!

I'm way too picky so not sure why I even clicked the thread 😆
As a teenager I ate mashed potato (smash) sandwiches which I think most people wouldn't like but I couldn't eat it now haha
I suppose some people would think my plain pasta or boiled rice with cheese meals are weird but I feel like they are plain enough others might agree ❤️

I could happily eat a bowl of boiled basmati rice, maybe with just a couple of spoonfuls of green beans or baby corn etc. I like Smash very much, but rarely buy it these days, as it is the very definition of junk food!

Spicy whole baked baby crabs. You eat them shell, eyes, and all. They're certainly an acquired taste, very pungent and fishy, but fairly nice to snack on in small doses, any more than that and they start to become kind of disgusting.
I'm not sure if all baked baby crabs are like this or if it's just how this brand is. I would like to try some by a different brand to see how they compare.

I knew people wouldn't share my love for cold peas. But I will continue to take pride in being gently disgusting with my food choices 😂
Fried onion sandwiches actually sound really good @Emilee. Almost like a hot dog or burger without the meat. Did you just have onion in there or was there any sauce or butter?
I'd forgotten all about Smash @Biblioklept! I suppose it's like a crisp sandwich without the crunch, so I can get on board with the taste of that!
What sort of texture do the shells have @Ross1975? Does it break down as you chew, or is it still quite gritty? The sauce they're cooked in looks tasty!

When I was little, I used to love something I called "shaky milk". When you get to the end of the milk bottle, you shake the last portion of milk vigorously so it comes out bubbly!! It's like the foamy milk you got on coffee (only on posh coffees when I was little 😆) but just cold.
For something extra you could put a little bit of milkshake powder/syrup in before you shake it up 😋

With butter, and if I'm feeling extra fancy then ketchup too 😂 It's exactly like a hot dog without the meat! I think it started from that actually, as I never liked sausages so would always take them out and be left with fried onions and ketchup which I either ate or went hungry.

The shell isn't gritty at all, it's like a thin crisp.

Shaky milk is adorable @66Mustang, I love the sound of that! I used to like making a really frothy banana milkshake back in the day. Mostly froth, not much milkshake 😋
Oh interesting @Ross1975, I never would have thought that! Where do you normally buy them? It's not something I've seen in the shops.

I haven't had it in foreverrrrr not sure what it even tastes like any more! I used to have piles of butter and salt added too 😀
Ooooh green beans and baby corn are great additions! I actually loveeeee love love vegetables! Not a fruit fan though

I am way too picky for this thread I think! I honestly couldn't do this even if I was paid.

I've never heard of that! I wonder if you can still get them? They sound a lot of fun haha

I bought them from ebay, here they are:
VIKAR VELVET CRAB 82G SPICY 維巧香辣螃蟹 | eBay UK
If you buy any don't be alarmed that the date at the top of the packet is before now, it's not the best before or use by date, it's the production date.

I know, they certainly wont be for everyone.
I've got some dried glassy squid in the freezer too, not tried any yet, I guess I just like weird stuff.

Sounds like you're pretty adventurous @Ross1975! How do you eat the squid? Is it the kind of thing you add to soups and things?

Rosie_Scope, it can be eaten on it's own as a snack (I've heard it has the texture of jerky), or added to soups and other things.
