Hi, my name is Betsygirl! Can a non-recoverable overpayment count as capital?

When i migrated to UC I had a full capital review and it was found that I had been overpaid £6k but it was a non recoverable overpayment as dwp failed to action. This amount was removed from my capital. I recently reported a change of circumstances, (bingo win), which triggered a new capital review. This new figure did not include the disregarded overpayment and they are saying that because its in my it counts as capital. I am being stupid thinking that a non recoverable overpayment should not be added back to capital. Im getting so close to being over £16k, nobody is answering my question.

    Hi @Betsygirl, welcome to the community. Did they tell you how long your over payment would be disregarded for when it happened? Sometimes these disregards can be for a set amount of time which may mean that it's now counted as capital.
