    Spot on. Leaving the EU ripped up the Dublin III Regulation, which was the only legal system we had for returning asylum seekers to other European countries.

    Once those official routes and agreements vanished post-Brexit, it created the exact vacuum smugglers needed. It's wild seeing the same politicians act shocked by the direct consequences of the policies they campaigned for.

    I'd genuinely like to understand what they hoped to achieve, like is it to raise attention? Did they think it would actually stop them being processed? What was the thinking? And if they're proud of their actions what is the need for the balaclavas, etc?

    I was more angry about the how frightening this must have been for any minors in that boat. These lowlifes remind me of the Capitol rioters in Washington DC, cowards the lot of them.
