Moving in with partner - Best date for UC?

Which is her main date, 13th or 27th? What are her assessment periods @dcba1988?

When you move from a single claim to a joint claim, whichever of you has the soonest Assessment Period (AP) end date will determine the new AP and payment dates for the joint claim.

This can work out quite well for claimants if they make the joint claim at the right time. However, without knowing your partner’s AP dates, it would be difficult to advise you further.

Unfortunately the AI is only half right.

We do not know whether the first payment they receive after the AP ends is the 13th.

The first payment they receive might be be the 27th. In which case their AP would be 21st to 20th of each month. It is easy for your partner to check their AP dates, they are written on the online journal.

Ok, it looks like your AP's must be 17th to 16th which is an interesting coincidence.

So if you move between the 18th and the end of the month then that should mean you both get paid before moving, and will keep your partners Assessment Periods moving forward.

Technically that would work right up until the 6th of the next month, but UC Housing changes don't seem to go through quickly, at least in my experience, so I would want to give them at least 1 week to process the change.
