    @justj74 Congratulations :) That was a great game! I really like seeing end-to-end football, Fulham can’t defend so it was really exciting to see how it turned into a basketball style match 😂

    I think the Fulham manager will be gone by Christmas. They’re very good going forwards and they’re so fun to watch. They can’t defend though and already look like relegation fodder

    I have Tottenham in this game we’re all in and they are not doing well either 😂

    So far this season Ashton Villa my team have lost 3 and drawn 1 not the best start.

    Arsenal won again, hurrah. I think I was given a good team again for this Sweepstake! 😊

    I usually only follow international football and tournaments like the World Cup and Euros, when there are a lot of games in a short time, so I may be missing something here, but... .…it doesn't really seem like a full time job being a footballer, does it? I'm following Arsenal who have Champions League and other stuff as well, but there still seems to be a lot of gaps between the games. Days and days sometimes. What do the players do all day, apart from training sessions?

    Genuine question: what on earth do they do, if they are playing in a lower league and with no European matches, with all that spare time? 😁

    What am I missing?

    That's a good question @Scooby222! I think they do a lot of gaming and possibly content creation. Maybe they just spend their money on luxury breaks or spas? What do you think?

    Shopping for fast cars and luxury watches? Although the lower league players presumably earn less anyway.

    I guess the team coaches do analyses of other teams, and runs strategy sessions on how to beat them. Maybe charity work, or sessions with Academy players. I'd be very interested if anyone has any insider knowledge, or other ideas?

    I think I've had too much spare time myself this Sunday, to start wondering about this! 😊

    From what I understand, a Premier League footballer who only has one match in a week will usually have one day completely off, plus around four or five training days.

    Some of those training sessions will be high intensity, while others will be lighter and focused on preparation for the next opponent.

    When teams play more than once in a week, such as in domestic cup competitions or European matches, players often get much less time off between games. Training sessions tend to become lighter and focus more on recovery, fitness management and tactical planning.

    Of course, busy fixture schedules can lead to fatigue and a higher risk of injury. That's one reason why many top clubs prefer larger squads. For example, Arsenal played around 67 competitive matches last season, while Brighton played closer to 43. Although both teams played 38 league matches, the additional cup and European games add up quickly, especially if a team progresses deep into those competitions.

    As a result, players can go through long periods with very little time off, apart from their afternoons after training. That said, they generally have more flexibility and free time during those afternoons than you might expect.

    That's useful to know Adrian_Scope, thank you! That makes a lot of sense. I guess because it's so early in the season there seems to be a lot of gaps between games, which will tend to reduce as time goes on.

    Excellent, I really like International games. Look like the England men are playing Spain first, nothing like starting at the top!

    The Lionesses have a couple of games at the beginning of October too, play-offs for their World Cup qualifying.

    I like having something to look forward too at this time of year.
