Premier Inn - non accessible

My wife and I are booked in to a Premier Inn in an accessible room - for a few days next week - we are going to visit my wife's family… we have stayed at the particular hotel before… however I just noticed on the website "All rooms at this hotel are accessed by stairs".

My first thought - this must be a mistake - we have never had a room on any floor before other than the ground floor - my next thought was how can a hotel offer accessible rooms on anything other than the ground floor ? I am wheelchair bound.

I am not going to do anything that may cause any arguments prior to this break for my wife (she's had a turbid few months - womb cancer and missing her parents) but if we get there and the room is up a flight of steps - I'm going to kick off in a big way..

    That does sound odd to advertise an accessible room but then only be able to get to it via stairs @Wibbles. It may be worth emailing the hotel just to clarify as I'm wondering if this is a website glitch especially as you've stayed there before?

    I hope you and your wife are able to have a nice few days away next week.

    if you stayed there before and it was fine it stands to reason it would be fine now, they're not going to remodel the whole place. also if you've already read it, you cant really kick off if you're not going to call and check. if it says that on the website it's a warning you are choosing to ignore.

    sorry about your wifes cancer and stuff i hope your trip is good and you get the room sorted

    Have they jacked the whole thing 10 foot off the ground? 😄

    Or is the ground floor now used for something else, conference space etc?

    I would have thought any large hotel over multiple floors would have a lift as well.

    Does seem very odd, I think the best option would be to contact them beforehand. It'll be too late once you get there.

    We have stayed at many Premier Inn, because they offer accessible rooms.

    Some have been ground floor and some not on the ground floor.

    What you may have picked up on is bad wording on their part.

    if the hotel has just had a major upgrade than by disabled act 2010 you should have no problems of disabled rooms and by law there has to be a lift if any hotel or any place open to public must have disabled facilities

    No worries - we stayed for two nights and it was on the ground floor !
