This is a poem about Carers.

I wrote this when I visited some one in hospita suffering from Dementia.

Dementia – poem.

I see a woman I once loved,

Her eyes still blue, they now see through you,

Hello my love how are you today,

Is met with that same blank stare, Hello, who’s there.

I try to see the girl I knew,

that took my heart away from me

I know you are in there somewhere,

just waiting, but for now that stare.

There are times when there is a glimmer of hope,

that giggle and smile, that little hope.

But in a flash she has gone away,

that blank look with nothing to say.

I won’t give up on you, you know,

In those wedding vows, I’m here to stay.
