Hello new and overwhelmed.
Hello had terrible shoulder pain for the last year and neck pain. Found out I have severe bilateral forminal narrowing C5,6&7 and now a prolapsed disc as well. It's effecting my arms and left leg. Im never going to be able to do my job again as it's too physical but been there 20 years. Lost all my friends and probably need to sell my house.

Hi @hazelnuts and a warm welcome to the community from me!
Thank you for telling us a little bit about yourself. It sounds like you're going through a lot and I'm sorry to hear you're in a lot of pain. Are you getting any support at the moment?
I hope you find the community a safe and enjoyable space to make new friends, what sort of things are you interested in? Do you have any hobbies?
It's lovely to have you here and I look forward to seeing you around the community😊0 -
Hi @hazelnuts welcome to the Community from me too. I hope you enjoy your time on the forum. Any questions just ask.
I am sorry you are having such a challenging time at the moment. It can be very difficult having to adjust to a new way of doing things.
I find it can be best to concentrate on what you can do now and not to think of what you were able to do before.
Unfortunately once we are no longer able to do what we did before friends seem unwilling to help by adjusting to what we are able to do now.
Is you GP helping you with your pain and any anxiety you have?
Have a look around and join in when you are ready.
Please take care of yourself.

I was scrolling through posts and this one, well I can relate. Honestly wish I had something helpful to add but I am a little lost. I just wanted to say you not alone. I have no idea how, but we'll get through.

hazelnuts welcome to the Community 😃
What a torrid time you appear to be having 😞
I have a similar condition. (Health wise)
I am no expert but here's some stepping stones:
1) If you have a Workplace pension you may be able to claim "Ill-health" Retirement. If you are/were in a Trades Union then contact them for advice re: Ill-Health Application.
2) Personal Independent Payment is a "must". Whilst your disc is correctable. Your vertebrae are not. This means there will be an on-going disability. (Longer than 3 months)
2a) Apply for Contributory Employment Support Allowance (if you have made 2yrs or more NI contributions)
3) Contact your landlord/Mortgage provider re: issues with payments (If possible do this in writing)
4) Contact you local Citizens advice Bureau they can assist you with Universal Credit application.5) As in 4 above Citizens Advice can direct you to support from your local Authority re: Living situation.
NB: If you are entitled to Universal Credit DWP should be able to offer a "Emergency payment" to cover immediate costs.
7) Take one step at a time. I totally get you must be feeling. I thought the world was ending. The path has not been easy. However, 5 years on I can see further down the road!
Wish you better health, better wealth and the knowledge that your world will still be standing just, may look a bit different.0
