    7 or 8 with marmite…..amazing! Got to have a crunch to it or you might as well have warm, floppy bread! Honourable mentions to jam, peanut butter and marmalade, which seems to have gone out of fashion, but marmite for me…..😋

    You've reminded me that my nan used to do "stripy toast" @Rosie_Scope, she used to put different flavour jams in different parts of the toast😄

    I like savoury and sweet toast but if i had to choose I'd have to go with savoury toast! I agree @Starman, marmite is probably my favourite toast topping!

    A rogue topping that I like occasionally is branston pickle😅 Has anybody tried that on toast?😆

    I love Rosie's description of her toast selections 😄 I mostly dribble olive oil now but used to have one plain and one fancy.

    Butter I prefer unsalted (bread is always salted) and toast can be eaten sweet or savoury so there!

    Hmm ok @WhatThe, I can accept it being sweet or savoury. I do love lemon curd on toast! @Carl_Scope just went too far saying it's always sweet 😂

    Do you mean you just put olive oil on toast? I've never heard of that but I'm intrigued.

    I agree with @Carl_Scope that (salted) toast, salted butter and salty Marmite would be inedible. I grew up thinking I hated butter and didn't taste unsalted until my late teens!

    Love it @Rachel_Scope but stopped buying it after getting a high cholesterol reading. Daughter's orders to switch to olive oil (sprinkle of salt optional)

    7 to 9. Must be actually toast. If it's a little too charred you just scrape it off. Crunchy toast with butter and marmite with honey. Mmmmmmm!

    I said I only ever think of it as savoury. But that doesn't mean other people can't have it sweet! Carl was suggesting that it's never savoury. 😮

    Must admit salted butter and salted toast doesn't taste that salty to me. I can't bear the smell of Marmite so never eaten that with or without toast! I don't think I have a particularly high salt tolerance either, I tried salted caramel once and hated it, also struggle with some brands of ham because they seem too salty.

    Ooh Marmite AND honey @Autumnleaf? That sounds intriguing! I love a bit of sweet and salty. How much would you put on of each? Is it mostly Marmite with a little drizzle over the top or equal parts Marmite and honey?

    A 7 for me, with avocado, black pepper, chilli flakes and egg on top

    Or piles of butter with a little marmite as a guilty pleasure.

    May I also draw your attention towards Hagelslag @Carl_Scope:

    A slice of white bread with chocolate sprinkles. The Dutch call this Hagelslag.

    Chocolate sprinkles and butter on bread. Or toast I suppose, but the Dutch might have opinions on that.

    You're right @Carl_Scope it won't go in the toaster but seeing as you are determined to fly the flag for toast being sweet, it seems you would like something like this. It's very similar to Hagelslag @Rosie_Scope!

    I'm going to try olive oil with a spinkle of salt @WhatThe. It never would have occurred to me to have them on toast.

    That sounds very healthy @Emilee. My current go-to is scrambled egg and beans on toast. I haven't been able to get into avocado. I do love the piles of butter option though 😆

    I quite like a generous portion of both to be honest. I love conflicting tastes, so salted caramel = yes, sweet caramel = no.

    I usually have wholemeal bread but if I was eating white, 7, but 5/6 would be acceptable.

    When I was in hospital I didn’t have much of an appetite and missed most of the scheduled meals. But in the evenings I would sometimes become really hungry and they’d feed me lots and lots of toast and hot chocolate 😊

    Yes @yellowpineapple84 but is it unsalted, slightly salted or fully salted Lurpak?

    And marmalade; I only like the lime version but that's not proper marmalade, is it?
